Eat Bulaga, Gawad Kalinga, and Philippine Army’s 11ID Join Forces for Sulu Outreach Program
June 26, 2025 | Talipao, Sulu

In a heartwarming display of solidarity and compassion, the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division of the Philippine Army partnered with the iconic noontime show Eat Bulaga and the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation Inc. to conduct a meaningful community outreach program in Sitio Banglot, Barangay Sinumaan, Talipao, Sulu.

Held at the Peace Formation and Learning Center, the June 26 event focused on supporting local schoolchildren through Eat Bulaga’s “Isang Lapis, Isang Papel” campaign. A total of 177 pupils received much-needed school supplies including pencils, notebooks, crayons, sharpeners, rulers, writing pads, plastic folders, ballpens, and reading materials—generously provided by Eat Bulaga with coordination led by Ms. Jainab Abdulmajid.

The initiative was spearheaded on the ground by the 41st Infantry “Partner for Peace” Battalion, under the command of Lt. Col. Genesis R. Gabrido, and supported by the 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Brigade headed by Brig. Gen. Emmanuel L. Cabasan. The 15th Civil-Military Operations “Bainglasahun” Battalion elevated the experience by organizing parlor games that brought joy and laughter to the children.

Beyond the distribution of school materials, the day also featured a feeding program made possible through the generosity of Century Pacific Group, which donated canned tuna, and Gawad Kalinga-Sulu, which coordinated the distribution of rice. Prizes for the games were likewise provided by Ms. Abdulmajid, further enhancing the festive and meaningful atmosphere.

The event would not have been possible without the support of various local partners, including:

  • Gawad Kalinga, led by Ms. Jainab Abdulmajid
  • SULADS-Sulu, headed by Mr. Jayson Roque
  • DepEd Sulu, represented by Mr. Reckmar A. Abtong
  • Barangay Upper Sinumaan, through Hon. Khadafi Misuali
  • NDJC’s Ms. Zhea Abdulmajid
  • AMR-SULADS, represented by Pastor Percy Dave Arroyo
  • Mission School Head Mr. Irel Jones Causing of Upper Sinumaan

The outreach activity reflects the Philippine Army’s enduring commitment to inclusive development, peace-building, and uplifting marginalized communities. Through initiatives like this, the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division reinforces the values of service, unity, and compassion—showing that true nation-building begins with love for the people.
